The Word of South event is a festival of music and literature being held in Tallahassee’s award-winning Cascades Park, on seven different stages, and features a distinctive blend of musicians and writers and a study of the relationship between the two subjects.

Word Of South Festival Tallahassee FL

Presented by Tallahassee Community College, the 2017 Word of South festival will be held April 7-9. The festival features authors who write about music, musicians who are also authors and all manners in between.

There are many distinguished performers at this year’s event, including local artists and intellectuals from Florida State University, such as poetry professor David Kirby, and Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Lisa Loeb.

While the festival is mainly geared towards adults, Word of South does also provide a great children’s program, with authors and musicians set to appear who appeal specifically to kids between the ages of 2 to 18. Every event at this year’s festival is free and open to the public, and it is totally pet-friendly.

The seven venues at Cascades Parks that these artists will perform on include the FIGG Bridge Stage, the Amphitheater Stage, the Korean War Memorial Stage, the Edison Innovation Hall Stage, the Edison Power Plant Stage, the Lyric Stage, and the Midtown Reader Tent.

Check out the Word of South Facebook Page for an entire schedule of events and the complete list of all performers. The fun kicks off at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 7th and continues throughout the weekend. Most shows have open seating, but for ticket performances, you can reserve your seats here – https://www.capitalcityamphitheater.com/.

Enjoy the festival!
