Technically the Tallahassee Elks Hoop Shoot is not until December 10, 2016 at 10am, but November is the time to prepare!
As you know, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks are a charitable society that focuses on the needs of a community’s youth, students, veterans, and senior citizens while providing a relaxed family-oriented social environment for its members to network and entertain each other.
November is packed with lodge activities to include a turkey drive for identified families, Monday night burgers, blues and brews occasions, Wednesday night BINGO, Wednesday and Thursday lunch specials and a special theme dinner on November 4th.
Most importantly about what we will be doing in November is finalizing preparations for December’s annual Elks Hoop Shoot at the Walker-Ford Community Center. This is a 25 shot free throw contest for kids between the ages of 8 and 13.
The winners of each group will advance to the District competition to be held in Lake City or Live Oak in January. The winners of the District competition advance to the State competition in Umatilla, and those winners go the National competition in Chicago.
THIS IS A COST-FREE EVENT.
That means your child does not pay to play! There is no entree fee.
The Tallahassee Elks Lodge will raise enough money to sponsor the winners’ trip to the District competition. At every level of winning, the Elks will make sure the winners are well-taken care of during their trip.
Watch the testimonials , Google the Elks Hoop Shoot, and by all means call me. I am the Hoop Shoot Director this year for our lodge.
Come and get some grit!
